Mental health depression is a result of trauma.
Research shows that 90% of people with depression suffered, either in their childhood or in their adulthood, from a distressing experience, which eventually affected their mental wellbeing. Some people find themselves trapped in a cycle of isolation, depression and anxiety and that can lead to a post-traumatic stress disorder, PTSD. Their research also showed that women were more likely to have been diagnosed with mental health disorders than men.

If your family isn't all that active, give yourself about 6-8 weeks. Your family will start to notice the difference in the way you act. They will see how healthy exercises and food choices makes them feel, giving them the energy they need to walk or run.
Remember, our real goal is to keep moving, growing and claiming life. Help your family fall in love with physical activity and exercise. There is no one size fits all training programmes, just movement.

Self-criticism? How to stop. One step at the time.
If you are anything like me, the smallest mistakes can sometimes lead to a pretty heavy round of self-criticism and harmful-talk. I forget to forgive myself for my mistakes and get carried away blaming myself for everything that happens to me. Unconsciously, I then look for ways to punish myself for messing up, to quiet the inner critic voice in my head.
What is self-criticism? ‘I hate myself’, ‘I am fat’, ‘I am such a failure, I can’t do anything right’, ‘I feel like a fraud'. These emotional attacks, critical inner voices or self-criticisms are evaluations of oneself, that originate in negative early life experiences.

My life journey has taught me lessons that it is important for me to look after myself. I discovered that it is okay for me to make mistakes as I grow. I am committed to living life as mindfully and joyfully as I am able while sharing what I have learned with others. I now know my purpose is to embrace the new and learn from the past. To repay the many, many teachings I have had in this blessed life.

The foods we eat impact our mind, body and soul. Recent studies have found that typical “Western” diets are associated with higher risks of depression and anxiety in adults and children. Women just like me, struggle to look at themselves in the mirror feeling overweight and deeply unhappy.
